Hi, I’m Emily Pennell. After serving as a police officer, I’ve spent over 12 years working in the disability sector, gaining extensive experience in various roles. I’ve worked as an assessor for government disability wage support, worked with the Deaf community as a support coordinator, and worked privately as a behaviour therapist and counsellor. My qualifications include a Diploma of Counselling, Bachelor of Psychology, Graduate Diploma in Autism Studies, and Certificates II, III, and IV in Auslan.
On a personal level, I’m married with four children and one grandchild. My youngest son has Autism, ADD, and Auditory Processing Disorder, and his journey has provided me with invaluable, lived experience that I hope to share with others facing similar challenges.
In my downtime, I love swimming and am currently training for the Australian Masters Games in Brisbane next year, following a successful return to competition in 2024 after a long break!
I look forward to working with you and getting to know you all 😊
