Behaviour Support Practitioner

Vanessa is a Behaviour Support Practitioner at Crystel Care with over seven years of experience working in the disability sector. Her career began as a support worker before progressing into a therapy assistant role, where she developed a strong interest in Positive Behaviour Support and supporting individuals with complex needs.

Vanessa has worked with a diverse range of participants across the lifespan, including children, adolescents, and adults with a broad spectrum of diagnosisies including; acquired and traumatic brain injuries, intellectual disability, and autism. She has extensive experience supporting individuals who present with behaviours of concern and focuses on understanding the underlying reasons behind behaviour to develop meaningful and effective strategies.

Vanessa works collaboratively with families, stakeholders, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure behaviour support plans are practical, respectful, and tailored to each participant’s unique circumstances. She values the insight of those who support participants in their daily lives and believes strong partnerships are essential for achieving positive and sustainable outcomes.

She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Psychology and has completed postgraduate studies in Neuropsychology. Vanessa also places great importance on cultural awareness and ensuring supports are responsive to each individual’s background, strengths, and goals.

Outside of work, Vanessa enjoys spending time at the beach, catching up with friends, and taking time to relax and recharge.
